SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS
Coordinates EVPL youth programming at Central Library and engages in public relations and promotion of youth services programs. Supervises READ Center by performing the following duties and related activities with the goal of providing outstanding services for and relating to youth consistent with the Mission of Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Program and Public Relations Activities

Plans and conducts programs for children to encourage and stimulate reading, viewing, and listening of library materials in an effort to create lifelong readers.

Creates, implements, and presents library and community programs for children ages 1-12 years of age and child related programs for parents, caregivers and teachers, including story times and family literacy programs.

Provides leadership in community partnerships and serves on select committees working to provide optimal library services.

Collaborates with the school district, area daycare and preschool facilities, higher education institutions, and a variety of other service groups and organizations as needs and opportunities arise.

Represents the Library on community boards, attends events, visits schools and other sites, and networks with others (schools, parent groups, community services groups, etc.) to promote Library services to youth and partnerships with the Library.

Conducts tours of Central Library for school groups and adults working with children.

Oversees and develops promotional materials for READ programs.

Prepares and coordinates web site content and works with Marketing & Communications Manager to assure coverage and currency.
Supervisory and Management responsibilities

Leads, supervises and coaches for appropriate behavior of direct reports by engaging in the following and similar activities: scheduling, coordinating, delegating, selecting, counseling, coaching, directing, training, evaluating, disciplining, and discharging.

Guides READ Center staff in developing engaging programs for adults and youth.

Guides READ Center staff in preparing information handouts.

Guides READ staff in creating displays of materials and information.

Serves on and attends relevant EVPL and other relevant professional organization committees, workshops and conferences.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
REQUIRES: ALA accredited Master's degree (M.L.S) or equivalent and at least five (5) years of relevant work experience including supervisory experience. Must have great customer service skills, excellent communication skills, be selfmotivated, able to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekend, and Sunday hours, and be dependable and responsible. Applicants must adhere to Library’s Dress Guidelines (“Business Casual”), dress suitable for the task at hand, and must maintain good personal hygiene in compliance with Library Code of Conduct.
