Employment Opportunities: Temporary/Part-time Radio-Frequency Identification Clerk- Central Library

Assignment of at least 18 month duration.
This position or like position may become permanent at end of assignment.

Location: Central Library, 200 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Hours: Temporary/Part Time Approx. 20 hours per week
Minimum Starting: $8.17 Hourly
Start Date: September

Temporary Assignment - Ends at project completion, up to six months or longer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs the duties of Radio-Frequency Identification System (RFID) clerk and facilitates/directs those duties being performed by dedicated volunteers; identifying materials that require new identification tagging, tagging those materials, and returning them to their appropriate locations.

  • Visually identifies materials needing RFID tagging in the section assigned
  • Removes materials from the location, tags materials, and returns materials to the location
  • Trains dedicated volunteers in the RFID process
  • Directs the work of dedicated volunteers
  • Prepares audio visual materials for tagging process
  • Records and reports progress of the RFID process to supervisor
  • Moves materials from one area to another within the building
  • Refers persons requiring assistance to the appropriate staff or librarian

REQUIRES: Prefer high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 6 to 18 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. May Consider less than high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or no prior experience or training may be considered. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to enforce rules are required. Some evening and weekend hours required, including some Sundays. Applicants must adhere to Library’s Dress Guidelines (“Business Casual”, and must maintain good personal hygiene in compliance with Library Code of Conduct.
