The 2008 Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library One Book One Community selection is This I Believe: the Personal Philosophies of Remarkable Men and Women, edited by Jay Allison and Dan Gediman. This collection of essays from the 1950s and today is based on the National Public Radio series of the same name. Information about the series and the book is available on the This I Believe website, http://www.thisibelieve.org.
One Book One Community, like This I Believe, provides a community forum for discussion of personal and collective values and a means for encouraging sensitivity to and respect for differing beliefs. Citizens of all ages and backgrounds are invited to become involved by reading the book, participating in discussions, and contributing essays about their own personal convictions.
Please join in the discussions and activities planned for this year's One Book One Community. Co-editor and radio series producer Dan Gediman will be the featured speaker at the culminating event, which will take place on:
