Author Speaker: Phil Doran author of The Reluctant Tuscan

Tuesday, November 3, 2009
6:30pm - 7:30pm
North Park - Meeting Room

Come hear Phil Doran author of The Reluctant Tuscan as he speaks with us from Los Angeles. Mr. Doran has agreed to call us and guide our Popular Book Discussion answering our questions about his book and living in Italy.

"The Reluctant Tuscan" is the sort of travel narrative that is hilariously funny and informative, comic and poignant, savory and sweet.

A TV producer for more than twenty-five years, Phil Doran worked as a writer-producer for such shows as Sanford and Son, Too Close for Comfort, and Who's the Boss?; as a writer for The Wonder Years; as well as writing episodes of The Bob Newhart Show and writing for such variety-show stars as Tim Conway, the Smothers Brothers, and Tony Orlando. He received an Emmy nomination, a Humanities Award, and the Population Institute Award for his work on All in the Family. He has also written for the Los Angeles Times. He and his wife divide their time between Tuscany and their home in California.
