What are Captain READ's Books On
the Go! ?
Captain READ's Books On the Go! are
themed kits of books available for a six-week loan period from the
READ Center. Because of the extended loan period, kits cannot be renewed
in person, by phone, or online.
Who can check out Captain READ's
Books On the Go! kits?
Any Vanderburgh County pre-K to middle school classroom or home
educator with a valid EVPL library card is eligible.
What's inside a Captain READ's
Books On the Go! kit?
Most kits contain 10-20 books on a particular theme or topic. Some kits
may contain one or two paperbacks with accompanying cassette
tapes.
What themes or topics are available?

then be able to see what books are included in each kit.
How many kits can I check out at one time?
An educator may have a maximum of 2 kits at any one
time.
What happens if materials become lost or damaged?
The educator who checked out the kit assumes responsibility for damage
to, or loss of, materials and/or container. In addition, fines will
accrue if materials (and container) are not returned to the READ Center
by the due date.
What happened to the Classroom Collections and Treasure Boxes
that I've checked out before?
Captain READ's Books On the Go! kits
replace all previous long-term classroom and home school loans, as
well as Treasure Box collections.
How can I make sure I'm returning all materials in the
kit I've checked out?
Each Captain READ's Books On the Go! kit comes
with a list of all the materials included in the container. This list
can be found in a pocket attached to the inside of the container's
lid.
What happens if the kit I want is checked out?
The READ Center staff will add your name to a waiting list
for that kit. You will be called when the kit becomes available.
How can I check out a kit?
Call 428-8225 or visit Central Library's READ Center to reserve
a kit. Please allow 2-3 days. A member of the READ Center staff will call when your kit is ready for pick-up.
All kits are to be picked up and returned
to Central Library's READ Center ONLY!!
