How do i use research services?

There are a number of different ways you can access help from Research Services.

At Central Library

If you're at Central Library, you can come to the Information Desk on the second floor and ask for help. You'll end up in contact with our friendly and knowledgeable staff. They'll probably ask you some questions in order to target precisely the information you're looking for. Depending on the nature of your question, the answer may take minutes, hours, or even days to find.

If you prefer to do your own research, there are a multitude of resources for you on the second floor of Central Library. Not only will you find all of Central Library's nonfiction collections and a very well developed general reference collection, you'll also find specialized reference collections dealing with local history, Indiana history, career development, business, federal and state law, grant-writing and fundraising, and government documents.

From Home

If you're at home, you can call Research Services on the telephone at 428-8218, you can email us, or you can contact us via Instant Messaging (IM). In both cases, you'll be connected to the same courteous and professional staff you'll find in person at the Information desk on the second floor.

You can also use our online databases to find everything from African-American studies to world population data. Most databases are accessible from home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
