A wide variety of Federal, State, and Local Government documents can be found in the Government Documents collections on the second floor of the Central Library. For more information, call 812-428-8218 or Ask EVPL.
federal government documents
As a federal government depository, EVPL receives a variety of documents published by the federal government. In this collection you can find Presidential documents, census records past and current, congressional directories and records, laws and regulations and reports of government agencies.
state government documents
EVPL receives a large variety of publications from many (not all) state agencies, listed here. Besides state laws and regulations, the state documents collection includes some state agency annual reports, travel information from the Department of Tourism, environmental reports, state budget information, employment statistics, etc. Publications are kept for at least five years.
Most state documents are not listed in the online catalog, but are listed by issuing agency in a card file. (The Indiana State Library does catalog them, however, so you may wish to do some subject searching in their catalog to see what may be available.)
Since there are online versions of most of the publications, you may wish to use Google to search for state-generated information. Simply enter your keywords and end with IN.gov.
