Wi-Fi Help

When checked out, each Sony Reader has no eBooks on it. Customers can download eBooks to the Reader over any Wi-Fi connection.

Wi-Fi is available at all EVPL locations, and the Reader will automatically connect when used in the library.

To connect to another Wi-Fi network, whether a home or public network, follow these steps:

  1. From the home screen, go to page 2 by touching the arrow in the bottom right corner of the screen.
  2. Touch "Settings", then "Wireless Network Settings", then "Wi-Fi Settings".
  3. Select the appropriate network from the list. If this is a secured private network, you'll need to enter the network password.
  4. Touch the "Connect" button.

After connecting to a network for the first time, you won't have to perform these steps again. The device will automatically connect to the network.

Who can check it out?
Adults with a valid EVPL resident library card in good standing.

Where do I return it?
Return directly to a staff member at the Checkout Desk at any EVPL location, not a dropbox. Returning it to a dropbox will result in a fee.

What if it gets damaged or I lose it?
Repair and/or replacement costs will be charged should anything happen to the Reader or the included components.

How long can I have it?
The checkout period is 3 weeks, with 1 renewal.

What if I don't return it by the due date?
The late fee is $1 a day ($5 maximum).

How do I add eBooks to the device?
eBooks are downloaded to the device over Wi-Fi.

I'm concerned about privacy. What happens to my info on the device once it's returned?
When a Reader is returned, the device is reset to factory defaults before being checked out again. This removes all eBooks, saved Wi-Fi networks, and passwords from the device.
