Summer Reading Sign Contest

The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library Summer Reading Program is almost here - and we want YOUR HELP!

Use your business' sign to advertise the Summer Reading Program, and we'll post a picture of your sign on the EVPL Flickr page. If your sign is selected as one of the winners, it will be featured here on our website.

Last year, Tom Ruder started it all by posting library detective messages at his business.

This year it could be your business promoting reading, and showing EVPL customers that you support them and the library!

How to Enter

1. Simply advertise EVPL's Summer Reading Program in a positive way on your business' outdoor sign.
2. Be creative! This year's theme is "Be Creative @ your Library." Yard signs distributed to patrons will say "I get inspired @ my Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library."
3. Take a photo of the sign, showing your business' name and the content of the sign. No people should be in the photo.
4. Email your photo (original size/resolution preferred) to evplsummerreading@live.com along with the following information:
   1. Name of business/organization
   2. Address
   3. Phone number
   4. Name of contact person at the company
5. Sit back & wait for the fame that awaits your business!

Rules

• Eligibility: The contest is open to all area businesses, organizations, and not-for-profits.
• Contest Period: There are two separate contest periods:
  • May 1, 2009 through May 16, 2009. During this period, entries are encouraged to promote the Kick-off and/or beginning of the Summer Reading Program on May 17. The Summer Reading Program begins with a Kick-off Celebration on Sunday, May 17, 1:00pm - 5:00 pm at Central Library.
  • May 17, 2009 through July 20, 2009. During this period, entries are encouraged to promote participation in the Summer Reading Program.
• Number of Entries: Each message may only be entered once per sign. If your business puts up one sign, and leaves it up all summer, you may enter once. If your business changes the sign, you may take a new picture and enter the sign each time you post a new message.
• Judging of Entries: Judging will be completed by EVPL staff members. Assistance may be given by the public attending the May 17 Kick-off on entries from the first contest period. Entries will be judged on their creativity. Judges' decisions are final.
• Announcing of Winners: Winners from the first contest period will be announced at the Kick-off Celebration on May 17th. Winners from the second contest period will be announced on July 22.

Prizes

Winners will be announced publicly, with photos prominently displayed on our website. Even non-winning photos (following our guidelines) will be posted on our Flickr page. Fame awaits your business!
