Transgender Day of Remembrance, or TDoR, is an annual observance on November 20, which honors the lives of those transgender people who have died in the past year due to anti-transgender violence. In 2020, a record number of transgender people in the United States lost their lives to anti-transgender violence. Transgender Awareness Week precedes TDoR to celebrate living trans people.

In honor of Transgender Awareness Week, here are just a few of the books by transgender authors, featuring transgender characters, available at EVPL:

Gender Outlaws: The Next Generation

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas

The first young adult novel featuring transgender characters written by an openly transgender author to be on the NYT Bestseller List. In Cemetery Boys, transgender boy Yadriel accidentally summons the wrong ghost.

When Aidan Became a Brother by Kyle Lukoff
