Our Summer: Building Together

Reflect on new and old stories as you read, connect with others through programs and events, and enjoy activities that help you build the best summer ever!

All age groups can participate and earn entries for great prizes by reading and participating in fun activities. Specific reading goals and suggested activities are provided for five age categories.

And all reading counts! You can read on your own, read with someone else, listen to an audiobook, or read an eBook.

Here’s how it works

• Readers of all ages are invited to participate. Participants will be grouped by age: ages 0-5, ages 6-8, ages 9-12, Teens, and Adults.
  • P.S. – you don’t need an EVPL library card to participate!
• To register, visit any EVPL location beginning Thursday, May 29, or participate digitally by signing up and tracking books through EVPL’s Beanstack app. Celebrate the beginning of Our Summer: Building Together with crafts, activities, and snacks at one of our Kickoff Parties:
  • EVPL Central: Thursday, May 29 • 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • EVPL Red Bank: Thursday, May 29 • 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • EVPL Oaklyn: Thursday, May 29 • 2:00 – 4:00 pm
  • EVPL McCollough: Thursday, May 29 • 2:00 – 4:00 pm
    • EVPL + Aces Athletes: Thursday, May 29 • 3:00pm – 4:00pm
  • EVPL North Park: Thursday, May 29 • 5:30 – 7:00 pm
• Once registered, you’ll receive a registration prize.
  • NOTE: You can register at any time through Thursday, July 31.
• Record the books you read on the log provided at registration or in Beanstack. There are multiple goals you can reach throughout Our Summer, including midpoint prizes, and you earn grand prize entries at each reading goal.
  • You can read eBooks, listen to audiobooks, read to someone else – it all counts! Books can come from your own collection or you can read books you borrow from EVPL.
• You can also earn grand prize entries by participating in suggested activities. Some suggested activities are the same for each age group, such as “Participate in a library program.” Other activities vary by age but are all designed to build fun, learning, and meaning this summer.

New This Year! – Program Punch Cards

For grades K-8

Build your summer adventure by attending at least six EVPL programs. At each event, staff will punch your card – collect all six punches and you’re in!

Drop your completed punch card at any EVPL location by Thursday, July 31 to enter the prize drawing. Winners will be notified by Friday, August 8.
