Our Summer: 250 Years of History

This summer, take a fun and fascinating trip through time with EVPL as we honor the people, events, moments, and stories that have shaped our shared history. Epic struggles, momentous triumphs, local traditions, and fascinating heroes are all part of our 250 year collective story. 

Our Summer: 250 Years of History, EVPL’s summer reading celebration, begins Sunday, May 31! Grab a log at any EVPL location and join the adventure.

All age groups can participate and earn entries for great prizes by reading and participating in fun activities. Specific reading goals and suggested activities are provided for five age categories.

Join us at EVPL Central for games, music, crafts, activities, and snacks for all ages as we begin our summer reading celebration, Our Summer: 250 Years of History.

Here’s how it works

• Sign up for Our Summer: 250 Years of History and receive a registration prize. 
• Readers of all ages are invited to participate. Participants will be grouped by age: ages 0-5, ages 6-8, ages 9-12, Teens, and Adults.
  • P.S. – you don’t need an EVPL library card to participate!
• To register, join us at the Our Summer Kickoff on Sunday, May 31, visit any EVPL location beginning Monday, June 1, or participate digitally by signing up and tracking books through EVPL’s Beanstack app.
• Once registered, you’ll receive a registration prize, while supplies last.
  • NOTE: You can register at any time through Friday, July 31.
• Record the books you read on the log provided at registration or in Beanstack. You can earn grand prize entries as you reach your reading goals.
  • You can read eBooks, listen to audiobooks, read to someone else – it all counts! Books can come from your own collection or you can read books you borrow from EVPL.
• As you reach your reading goals and finish activities during Our Summer: 250 Years of History, you can bring your log to any EVPL location to receive a completion prize, while supplies last, and enter for prizes through Friday, July 31.
• Complete any or all of the activities listed in the log. Fill out a slip for each activity completed, tear it out, and turn it in at any EVPL location by Friday, July 31, to be entered to win special prizes
• After you finish your reading goal, you have the chance to earn more prize entries by becoming a Super Reader! You can continue reading and turning in Super Readers trackers through Friday, July 31.

Registration & Completion Prizes

While supplies last, those who register will receive a registration prize. Once you finish your reading goal, you’ll receive a completion prize, while supplies last!
