Getting a Card

Applying for a Card

Library cards are free to residents of Vanderburgh County. Indiana residents who do not live in Vanderburgh County may purchase a Public Library Access Card (PLAC) or a Subscription card.

You may apply at any of our eight locations. Your library card is valid at all locations.

To apply, you'll need:

  • Valid photo identification
  • Proof of current address
  • A parent or guardian signature if you are under 18

Vanderburgh County Residents ▼

New Borrower's Card

For borrowers who have never had a card or have been inactive for three years. Limited checkouts, until converted to resident card. 30 day expiration.

Resident Card

Adults & children with a current Vanderburgh County address. Parent/guardian must sign for minor child. Two year expiration.
 

Business Courtesy Card

Any business owned or operated in Vanderburgh County. Limited to online database access. One year expiration.

Computer Guest Card

For any person without a card who wants to use public access computers. Limited to computer access only. One year expiration date.

Limited Resident Card

For adults who live in temporary housing in Vanderburgh County or children in foster care. Limited checkouts. Six months to one year expiration based on type.

Non-Vanderburgh County Residents ▼

Non-Resident Courtesy Card

For non-residents who pay Vanderburgh County property tax; non-resident educators, teachers, or activity directors who teach in Vanderburgh County; or non-resident students who attend Vanderburgh County colleges and reside in Vanderburgh County during school year. One year expiration.

Out of County Indiana Student Card

Indiana students who attend a Vanderburgh County school, but reside outside of Vanderburgh County. Limited checkouts. One year expiration.

Public Library Access Card (PLAC)

For Indiana residents who want to borrow materials from any library in the state. Must have a card in good standing from their "home" library. There is a $50 fee for this card. Limited checkouts (no digital downloads). One year expiration.

Subscription Card

Indiana residents within or without a library taxing district who reside outside of Vanderburgh County. Some limitations based on type. There is a $70 fee for a single person and $100 fee for a family. One year expiration.
