The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library is proud to partner with Lyles Station (Legacy Taste of the Garden) and Urban Seeds to teach young chefs in grades 3 through 5 how to prepare a recipe while connecting them to our local food system. Participants will prepare a dish each month to share with family and to start a dialogue about the cooking tradition in their family.
A cooking kit and all of each month’s ingredients will be provided along with children’s books about ethnic diversity in cooking, cooking basics, the history of farming, and where food comes from. Attendance to all monthly classes is not mandatory, but encouraged for consistency.
