The EVPL East Community Garden, a project funded by the EVPL Foundation, is planned to help transform a library-owned greenspace into a vibrant hub for food access, learning, wellness, and community—rooted together, growing forward.

In Evansville, 40% of neighborhoods are classified as food deserts, and one in six residents face food insecurity, according to the USDA and the Tri-State Food Bank. EVPL East offers an ideal location for a timely, local response to help address these concerns, right where people already come for trusted resources.
Additional benefits of the garden include:
By transforming EVPL East’s existing greenspace into a flourishing community asset, this initiative will connect people to the earth, to their neighbors, and to EVPL’s mission of lifelong learning and shared wonder.
The EVPL East Community Garden will be created in the spring of 2026.
