If you are an educator in Vanderburgh County, EVPL can help fulfill your classroom’s need for supplemental materials through the creation of personalized crates of subject-specific materials for checkout.

My name is Kerisa and I work in EVPL Central’s READ Center–that is, the children’s department. Part of my job is to pull materials for educators who work with children in formal school environments, afterschool programs, homeschool settings, and (recently) education students out at USI. Educators can vary from those working at the EVSC, the Diocese, local daycare centers, preschools, and homeschool parents.

Each set I send out is personalized for what you, as an educator, need to supplement your curriculum. The items I check out to you can be anything from materials from the Education Materials Center, fiction and nonfiction books, feature film and educational DVDs, children’s music, and more. I will pull the materials and check them out on your card for six weeks (the normal checkout period is three weeks). The items will be placed in either a bag or a crate with a sign that tells you when they are due back and how many items there are. These sets will need to be picked up from and returned to EVPL Central.

The process is easy. You can email me (kerisar@evpl.org), call the Central READ Center at 812.428.4225, or submit information through this form.

I will need to know

  1. What age/grade level you will need the materials to be
  2. How many items you would like me to check out to you (the maximum number of items that you can have checked out at one time is 100)
  3. Either specific titles or general subjects you would like (or a combination)

Please submit your request at least a week before you would like to pick up your items. Feel free to email me any questions you may have.

If you do not have a card, it is easy to get one. You can apply in person at any of our eight locations (where you will get a physical card) or you can get a digital card.  The digital card works just like a physical card, you will just have to make sure that you have the EVPL app downloaded so that you can show your barcode when checking out at a location.
