There is a feeling of connection and connectedness to handmade goods, particularly fiber traditions such as knitting, sewing, and weaving. Many of the world’s sacred texts contain stories of knitting or weaving elements of the world together. The appeal rests in the idea that a divine weaver touches every fiber to create stitches, patterns, and something that can be used to delight, decorate, warm or shelter.
Fiber art embraces the natural world and our place of kinship within it. Fibers have been used for clothing and shelter since prehistoric times, beginning with animal skins, leaves, and wool. At EVPL, many of our staff and visitors hear the siren call of the fiber world and celebrate that call with joy, and most importantly, togetherness.
Join us for a time of community and fiber crafting!
