UPDATE: As of Wednesday, June 17, we are no longer creating new Instant Digital Cards. We are exploring new options to create EVPL cards online.

Even if you haven’t had a chance to get an EVPL card, you can still borrow from our digital collection through OverDrive and Libby apps by creating an OverDrive Instant Digital Card. You can borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks through these portals.

To create an OverDrive Instant Digital Card, you’ll enter your mobile phone number. As long as the billing address for your mobile phone number is in Vanderburgh County, you can get an OverDrive Instant Digital Card.

Here’s how to get started:

  • Go to evpl.overdrive.com on a desktop or device browser.
  • Click where it says “Log In” in the top right corner.
  • Click the link under “Welcome” where it says “Need a library? Get a free one instantly using your mobile number.”
  • Enter your mobile number.
  • Start borrowing!

And here’s how to get started on the Libby app:

  • Download and open the Libby app.
  • Choose Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library or enter your ZIP code when it asks you to find your library.
  • Accept the prompt asking if you’d like to get instant access with your phone number.
  • Enter your mobile phone number.
  • Start borrowing!

Once EVPL is back open, we can reach out to those who created an OverDrive Instant Digital Card, to create a full EVPL card so you can access and borrow from our entire catalog.
