Students are invited to take part in EVPL's 2025 Piñata Contest

Once again, as a part of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library and the Centro Latino + Americano have partnered to bring you a Piñata Contest!

Contest Guidelines

• Any child or teen ages 0-18 may participate. Each participant may register only one piñata. The piñata must have been made by the child or teen entering the contest. 
• Piñatas that have been purchased, marketed, or used in other competitions will be disqualified. 
• The piñata must have a cardboard base body and be made and lined with traditional materials, such as newspaper or colored papers. It should have a hook for hanging. If decorations are made, they must be executed by hand without computer prints.
• The piñata can be of any size, shape, and theme.

Due Date for Submission

• Monday, September 15 – Monday, October 14: Piñata Submission 
  • Participants MUST drop off their piñata between the dates of Sept. 15 – Oct. 14 at EVPL Central. EVPL Central’s hours are: 
    • Sunday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
    • Monday – Thursday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm 
    • Friday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
    • Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • The registration form must be completed and attached to the piñata when dropped off.
  • ALL piñatas must be turned in by Monday, October 14, by 8:00 pm to EVPL Central with the registration form. No late entries will be accepted.

Contest Voting and Prizes

• Piñatas will be placed in three age categories, depending on the age of the participant. 
  • 0-8
  • 9-12
  • 13-18
• Piñatas will be displayed at EVPL Central as they are submitted. 
• October 21, 2024 – October 30, 2025:  Voting 
  • During this time, voting on the piñatas can be done in-person at EVPL Central or online at evpl.org. Everyone is welcome to vote. Voting ends on October 30 at 8:00 pm. 
• Prizes: Participate for your chance to win some awesome prizes for each age group!

Pick Up

Pick Up: All piñatas must be picked up from EVPL Central between Nov. 3 – Nov. 14, 2025. Any piñatas not picked up by Nov. 14 will be disposed of.

*The piñatas that do not comply with these rules will be automatically disqualified and will be the responsibility of the student to retrieve.
*Participants accept that the registered piñatas will be publicly exhibited at EVPL Central.
