TeenTober at EVPL
It’s TeenTober! Each October, libraries across the nation celebrate teens, and Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library is no exception. In 2019, the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) instituted TeenTober as a month-long celebration to combine the former initiatives Teen Read Week and Teen Tech Week. Now, we spotlight the vibrant diversity of programs and materials that we offer teens throughout the entire month of October!
TeenTober Book Bracket
EVPL’s annual “tournament of books” is back to showcase our extensive young adult (YA) book collection. This year’s TeenTober Book Bracket features the most checked-out book series from EVPL’s YA fiction and YA graphic novel collections over the past year.
Some notable favorites competing this year:
- Jenny Han’s Summer novels, the basis of the hit streaming series The Summer I Turned Pretty
- Not one but two “romantasy” series from the #BookTok sensation Sarah J. Maas
- The best-selling manga series Spy x Family, which has been adapted as an anime television series, an anime film, and a musical
- One of Japan’s longest-running manga series One Piece by Eiichiro Oda, who holds the Guinness World Record for “most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author”
Each week of October, you will have the opportunity to vote on which series you think should advance to the next round. On Monday, October 30, one YA series will be declared the winner. Which book series will be the champion? You decide. Let your voice be heard!
