The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library invites all readers to participate in Reading is snow much fun – our Winter Reading Challenge, kicking off on Monday, December 14.

The challenge will last until Sunday, February 14, and all ages are welcome to participate.

Readers will log hours read by utilizing EVPL’s Beanstack or by calling 812.428.8225 to record hours read.

Participants will be grouped by age: Children (0-12), Teens (13-17), and Adults (18+).

Readers will fall into the following age groups: Ages 0-5; Ages 6-8; Ages 9-12; Teens (ages 13-17); and Adults (18+). The youngest group (Ages 0-5) will earn a prize entry for every five books. Books may be in any format and do not need to be part of the EVPL collection. They will complete the challenge by reading 50 books. The remaining four age groups will earn a prize entry for every hour read. They will complete the challenge by reading 10 hours.

But, wait, there’s more! Every group has five bonus activities that are optional but will earn them additional entries into the prize drawing. All five activities will challenge readers to explore books from different genres, authors, countries, and more.

Three winners will be drawn from each of the five age groups and notified by February 17, 2021.

Reading is the best way for anyone to learn no matter what age! Reading and sharing stories opens up new worlds and encourages new ideas. EVPL supports our community by providing resources and opportunities for reading, storytelling, and conversations.
