FAQs

How will I (as a library user) be impacted during the transition?

Because there is so much information in our catalog that has to be transferred, we have to essentially “freeze” our catalog. So this means there will be a period of time when we cannot enter new materials, new library users, or make changes.

There are a few dates to keep in mind:

  • Beginning August 1, new physical materials that come into the library will not be cataloged. This means new physical materials won’t be available to check out until the end of the month after our new catalog goes live. If you know of a title coming in August that you’d like to checkout, you have until August 22 to place a hold. As soon as that physical title is ready, our holds and normal circulation will resume.
      • Don’t worry! Materials released in August will still be available, they will just be a little late hitting our shelves.
  • The last day to process Interlibrary Loan requests will be August 14. After this time, requests can be submitted but will not be processed until September 5.
  • Between August 23 and August 29, you must have your EVPL library card to check out materials. Also, library cards cannot be renewed or updated during this time.
  • Library materials returned between August 23 and August 29 will not be checked in until August 30, at the earliest.
  • Due dates will be extended! No materials will be due between August 21 and September 5.
  • When our new system goes live on August 30, PINs will be reset.
    • Library users with a phone number associated with their account will use the last four digits of their number.
      • Example: 812.555.4343 would have a PIN of 4343.
    • Library users without a phone number associated with their account but who have a ZIP code will use their ZIP code.
      • Example: 47715.
    • Library users without a phone number or ZIP code associated with their account can call 812.428.8200 for help.
  • You will still have access to all of our digital resources during this time.

When will things go back to normal?

Our new catalog will go live on August 30! Please be patient with staff and other library users as we all learn and get familiar with this new system together.

Can I get a preview of what the catalog will look like?

Yes! These libraries use the system we are moving to:
