Your BingePass to all things Science and Nature

As part of EVPL’s digital collections, hoopla offers an amazing wealth of content, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, comics, television, and film. Since the beginning of 2022, hoopla has added even more content through their BingePass system. Two of these are perfect for fans of science, nature, and the curiosities of the world.

The Great Courses and Curiosity Stream

Two of the popular BingePass options are The Great Courses and Curiosity Stream. The Great Courses allows you to, at your own pace, attend video lectures and experiences taught by award-winning experts and professors. Billed as “Learning that fits your life,” this service has no pressure, tests, or homework. Using a BingePass, just one of your hoopla borrows per month, gives you seven days of access to select courses. There are approximately 300 courses curated specifically for library users.

Some select courses for fans of science and nature:

  • National Geographic: Polar Explorations
  • Food, Science, and the Human Body
  • Our Night Sky
  • The Theory of Everything
  • The Science of Information
  • Geological Wonders
  • The Science of Integrative Medicine

Another BingePass option is Curiosity Stream. You may have seen this service promoted in television commercials alongside other popular streaming platforms, like HBO Max, YouTube TV, and Frndly TV. Curiosity Stream was founded by the founder of the Discovery Channel and features many programs around nature, science, technology, history, travel, performing arts, philosophy, and so much more. Curiosity Stream even has a section just for kids. One BingePass allows you seven days of unlimited access to stream or cast to your favorite screens.

(Note: Before clicking on the titles below, you will want to visit hoopla’s BingePass page and check out your pass. After checkout, press or click the Play option in hoopla to be taken into Curiosity Stream as a “Friend.” Then come back to this page to access these titles.)

Popular shows and films for fans of science and nature:

If you utilize BingePass in a Chrome browser, your watch history will save, even after your pass has expired. If you have a Chromecast device on your network, you can cast directly to those from a PC.

Be sure to check out more great print titles, as well as DVDs, and other items from Libby and Kanopy for more fascinating science and nature adventures.
