The READ Sensory Room – found in EVPL Central’s READ Center – is a safe place for children with sensory processing differences or other challenging conditions in need of a calm, sensory-friendly space. As a multi-sensory environment (MSE), it is designed to help children self-regulate through a variety of sensory solutions.
From noise-cancelling headphones and weighted blankets to the fiber optic waterfall and tactile balance beam, the room is flexible to be used for both sensory seeking and sensory avoiding.
Once EVPL meeting and study rooms are reopened to library staff and the public, parents or caregivers may reserve the room for up to two hours at a time. For more information, call EVPL’s READ Center information desk at 812.428.8225.
