Local artists are invited to submit design proposals for a graphic mural in the newly renovated EVPL McCollough. Read the full RFP.

Here’s what you need to know

EVPL would like to highlight a local artist inside our newly renovated EVPL McCollough. The mural space is 190″ wide x 90″ tall. There will be a $750 honorarium.

Artists can submit a digital design that will be professionally printed by EVPL and installed into the space. Designs that focus on enhancing the new renovations and space will be given preference.

The winner will work with EVPL’s Graphic Design Specialist and a local printing company to prepare artwork for final production.

The mural will be placed above a permanently installed bench that will span the entire space

Good design

  • The artwork may be of any subject matter but should be appropriate for all audiences and acknowledge the character of the newly renovated location.
  • Words to describe the space: Contemporary, Calm, Inviting, Open, Harmonious

Not good design

  • The mural should not be a “branding” image (i.e. should not simply label the space as EVPL McCollough).
  • Designs should stay away from library cliches like books, reading, etc.

How to submit

Send your design proposals, resume, and any visual materials to art@evpl.org.

Artwork submitted should be created digitally using high-quality images and vectors and as a PDF file. If artwork is too large to upload via Google, please upload artwork using WeTranfer and send to art@evpl.org.

Selection process

A group consisting of the EVPL Art Committee, CEO, COO, and McCollough Location Manager will examine the proposals submitted by the artists and decide on the awarding of commissions. The chosen artist will collaborate with the organizers to refine designs that align with the space’s design and the EVPL’s mission.

The decision made by the jury panel is final and there will be no further correspondence. The accepted artist will receive notification via email. The jury panel reserves the right to revoke acceptance if the quality of the art does not match the submitted images or if the artist fails to meet the requirements.

Schedule

  • Monday, March 25: Submission period opens
  • Friday, April 26: Deadline for submissions
  • Monday, May 6: The selection committee chooses a design
  • Tuesday, May 7: Notification to artists
  • May 20-24: Mural installation

Honorarium

The selected artist will receive an honorarium of $750.
